Five Creativity Tips to Help Emotional Management
Posted on June 07, 2010 by admin
Here are five easy tips to help your child use creativity for emotional management:
- Use clay, crayons, markers and paper to create an imaginary character to help the child stop and think before acting. This will help her become more aware of her thoughts, feelings and emotions.
- Use clay to express frustration and then create a new way to solve a problem.
- Come up with a creative plan to stop siblings from fighting, using markers to draw out their choices.
- Children in a creative problem solving group can create clay figures to help negotiate relationships and find ways to build social skills.
- Take a creative break! When you notice your child becoming agitated and that she is unable to talk through the problem, have her take a break in a relaxation corner and use markers and crayons to express her feelings.
* Model Magic is a great clay substitute. It’s clean, no clean up and non-toxic…and kids LOVE it!
