Catch Her in The Act of Doing Something Right!

Praise shows that you noticed her efforts. It also promotes a feeling of competency. There is simple praise that most of us are aware of, good game, great job, you’re a great helper, etc. And then there is praise that goes a level deeper.

Praise that truly recognizes us for who we really are, in the inside and not for the more surface things on the outside. Begin to explore other areas of your girl’s life that she is successful in.

Is she really committed to going to school everyday even though she struggles with many subjects? Let her know how much you respect how committed she is. Does she have many different ideas in how to solve a problem? Let her know how much you respect and honor her ability to problem solve.

Is she silly and funny? Let her know how you value this quality about her and see how her humor lights up a room. These qualities are our girl’s gifts to us, ones that go a lot further than having perfect hair.

Begin to become more aware of times you can help set her up for success.  She’ll love the feeling of mastery that comes along with this too.
