This 6-month program is designed to help children and parents manage behaviors and emotions with art therapy and creative problem solving strategies.

This program includes:

  • Four- 60 minutes sessions per month in months 1,2 and 3, bimonthly 60 minute sessions in month 4,5 and 6 using art therapy, creative problem solving, and support to help your child change the patterns that keep them from positively managing their behaviors and coping with problems when they arise.
  • Two – 30-minute parent/guardian support calls per month with specific strategies to help support your child make long lasting changes and for you to reclaim your parenting powers.
  • Monthly contact with school/ other professionals to facilitate positive changes (if applicable).

BONUS - Weekly support check-in via email (initiated by the parent) designed to keep you focused on positive outcomes and changes as you move forward boldly in the process of reclaiming your parenting power.

This program involves 3 phases of treatment:

Phase 1 (Sessions 1-4)
Goals:

  1. Meet with Parents/Guardian and formulate treatment plan.
  2. Identify problems and treatment goals.
  3. Facilitate psychological safety and build the therapeutic relationship using art materials.
  4. Develop an awareness of thoughts, feelings, and underlying issues that relate to problems using art materials.

Phase 2 (Sessions 5-14)
Goals:

  1. Use art materials to develop coping strategies and learn self-soothing techniques.
  2. Learn new creative thinking and problem solving tools using art materials.
  3. Apply creative solutions to manage stress and emotions.
  4. Meet with Parents/Guardian to review changes and progress.

Phase 3 (Sessions 15-18)
Goals:

  1. Maintain behavioral changes and continue to regulate emotions.
  2. Continue to practice coping strategies and problem solving tools through art tasks.
  3. Review client’s progress and artwork.
  4. Reward successes.
  5. Make future recommendations with client and evaluate with Parents/Guardian.

6 hours of phone check-in calls for parent support.

18 hours of direct client and parent support.

6 months of contact with school/other professionals (if applicable).

6 months of client and family support.
